Broke Up But Still Interested

I went out with this guy for a little over a month. Nothing was seemingly working right so we just ended it and agreed on being friends. It's been a couple months since the break up and we're better friends now than when we were dating... thing is, i think i still like him.

I've emailed him and told him, but he never responded which I didn't really think he would, he hates typing a lot. We still to this day hang out at least 1-2 a week, and he will randomly call me for no reason. I'm not one to talk on the phone much, yet our shortest conversation was about 30mins and our longest was about 3 hours. These are daily conversations.

The other day when I dropped him off, after the two of us hung out, instead of just getting out of the car and leaving like he usually does, he just sort of sat there. I didn't really know what to do... I didn't know if he was trying to hint something or what. And then today, me, him and my other friend went to the beach and everything was good. I ended up wearing his shirt home (and the shorts I had with me, in my car) because I forgot to bring extra clothes. My other friend had gone to the bathroom and some how the topic of me being self-conscious came up and he's like "You have absolutely no reason to be self-conscious, there's nothing wrong with you."

After the beach i dropped him off and gave him his shirt back, and then we were just sort of standing there so I went in and gave him a hug. I was so close to kissing him but I didn't know how he'd react so I didn't.

I'm so confused...what should i do? Should i talk to him about it in person or something or just leave it be? I know we broke up but I'm still interested. HELP!?

You stated that in the beginning things seemingly just weren't working. Do you two have chemistry or possibly not? There is nothing wrong with just being friends if that's what you both want. Perhaps he's a gentleman and just doesn't want to move too fast for fear of losing a good thing. Sounds like the two of you need to have a good talk about your feelings, that's all.
