Dating Someone From Work

I made the decision to tell this guy at work that I liked him over the weekend, taking this decision from all the previous chats we had and all the flirting going on at work.

It went horribly wrong and at work last week we had "the chat " where he said he was really flattered etc., but his head wasn't in the right place. He said that dating someone from work could be potentially messy...

From the way that he was flirting with me in front of my friends and I, we're all shocked when he came back saying that. We all assumed it would be positive.

My friends all think he still really likes me but is just worried about work etc... as he is quite a high up manager in the company.

Currently at work he's all laughy and jokey with me and comes over and eats all the chocs off my desk, but then in evening on the internet, he completely igonres me?!?!

He hasn't stopped staring. If anything, he has become more blatant with it and openly looks at me? I still like him and am prepared to wait and put in the effort if I could figure out if he really likes me more than a friend or not?
